Some Ground Rules
I’m not running this site to convince anyone of anything; it’s about writing, giving vent aggravations on one hand and voicing happy thoughts on the other. It’s not so much that I object to allowing this to be a forum as I don’t want to waste a lot of time quibbling with unseen strangers about the meaning and particulars or this quote or that government report.
Given that and after some thought, I’ve reactivated comments for this site. But I’ve also left on comment moderation. Frustration with comments proved deeply maddening in the first go-round; I’d waste time replying - “defending the space” as I’d call it - to people no more willing to be moved away from their point than me; small surprise such “debate” too often degenerated into exchanges of insults that became less polished the longer they went on. This time around, I’ll “defend the space” by posting only those comments (assuming I get any...) I feel add something worthwhile to the subject. In other words, if you comment and I don’t post it...yep, I thought you said something stupid, pointless, insulting...any of an array of negative adjectives apply.

Broheim, I feel like my past comments are the ones that have left such a bad taste for you about commentors.
I apologize if that is the case. I thought that adding extra spice and turning the volume up to 11 would make for a lot more fun and excitement for everyone.
I tried hinting at what I was doing different times by referencing Andy Kaufman and pro wrestling- two entities that kind of heated things up for fun/entertainment.
I never was disingenuous in my comments, but I did aim for some sort of Hunter S. Thompson gonzo, over-the-top presentation.
I also really, really enjoyed the back and forth. You're one of the brighter, kinder folks I've met (and a decent writer), and after the back and forth with you on a subject I would either feel my position was strong for having stood up to what you had to say (to my mind at least), or I would maybe need to consider something I was missing if you shot some holes in it... big mess of a run-on there, but it helped me look at more sides of an issue.
Any teasing (like about closing the blog every other day, or being an Anglophile) was meant in the best spirit.
Peace.

In truth, Mr. Hick, you were the least of my aggravations. Without getting to deep into it, the problem I had was with everyone in the world being so goddamn correct; it was that sense of inflexibility, a kind of credulity that refused to so much as entertain the possibility that one's world-view wasn't reality that sent me around the bend.
As much as I wouldn't mind giving the blogging concept another shot, I think it's time to accept that un-wiring this site from the outside was fatal to keeping it alive. Getting all that up and running again, compounded by the ever-present risk that I'll freak out again, is what prompts me to shut down this space and leave it shut down.
Once the dust settles on my larger life-picture, I'll try to find some non-ideological outlet (HA!) where I can submit either postings or actual worthwhile shit.
Thanks for reading, thanks for commenting - and, if you feel like getting together in person one of these days, my email address is still attached to the site. Drop me a line if you like.
